Pamela began playing harp at age 16.

On hobbies... "When I'm not working or practicing, I love to read. The only collection I have is a curio cabinet full of - guess what - harps!"

Q&A

What motivated you to become a musician?

I was interested in music from a young age.

Do you have any favorite instructors or mentors who played a critical role in your development as a musician?

Peter E. Eagle - my harp instructor at Indiana University. Believed in me and gave me confidence in my ability to find a niche.

Outside of group rehearsals, approximately what length of time and/or how many times per week do you practice your instrument?

That depends on what performances I have coming up. If I have several different concerts upcoming, I will practice around 2 hours every day to get everything ready.

If you could have dinner with any one person, living or not, who would it be and why?

My mom. Because sometimes I need help parenting and I would like her opinion on current events.

Tell us a little about your family...

I have three children: Skye was a violin major at UI. Currently painting houses and playing in bands. David is a soccer coach and lives with his wife in Columbus, OH. Felipe is an actor in Chicago. I don't have pets - my daughter who lives with me has 4 cats: Lucius, Friday, Miso and Benjy.

Tell us a bit about your advanced training. Did you attend college for your instrument? Do you continue to take lessons?

B.M. and M.M. in Harp from Indiana University; Suzuki Teacher Training through Book 3, as well as other Suzuki related courses.

What is your favorite...

Food - love Persian food Color - purple Song/Artist - anyone I've played with: Josh Groban, Moody Blues. And Elton John, whom I've never played with. Vacation spot - anywhere with water and a beach TV Show - Ted Lasso Book - Kristen Hannah, "Nightengale" Also "The Women."

Do you have any words of encouragement for someone who dreams of becoming a musician?

Don't give up. And don't let anyone discourage you. Be prepared for hard work but great payoff.
